The Harriston and District Horticultural Society met on Feb. 21 after a short winter  break.

Past president Sue Bridge introduced guest speaker Paul Frayne, a teacher at Norwell District Secondary School who is in charge of the Community Environmental Leadership Program (CELP) and the new Local  Environmental, Agriculture and Food (LEAF) program.

Programs

CELP challenges students to become leaders and to do things outside of their comfort zone.

The new LEAF program will partner with local agricultural businesses.  Students will learn where food comes from, how to grow and prepare their own food, and will visit local farms where they can see the connection.
