Northern poppy and parade permits set

As per usual, Wellington North councillors made their traditional approvals for the sale of poppies and local Remembrance Day parades in Wellington North.

Councillors received requests from Arthur Legion Branch 226 president Ken Engleby and Mount Forest Legion Branch 134 president Merv Weber.

On Oct. 18 councillors agreed to proclaim Nov. 11 as Remembrance Day, while at the same time allowing poppy distribution in the township.

In addition, roads will be closed in the two communities on Nov. 11 for ceremonies.

In Arthur, roads to be closed between 10:30am and 11:30am include George and Smith Streets (Highway 6)between Eliza and Conestoga Street and Isabella Street north to Georgina, west to Charles, south to George and north to Frederick Streets.

At the same time, the main street of Mount Forest will be closed between Murphy Street and Queen Street from 10:30am to 11:30am.
