Councillors here have no qualms about allowing the local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion an extension to its liquor licence to have a beer tent in its parking lot for coming events in Mount Forest.

Council had no objection to either request by the Mount Forest branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.

When asked about the noise bylaw, Chief Administrative Officer and Clerk Lori Heinbuch explained that since the two are community events, they are exempt from the bylaw.

The Mount Forest Fireworks Festival runs from July 18 to 20 and the Haydays Hootenanny takes place from Aug. 1 to 3, and they are considered as community events.

The temporary extension to the liquor licence by the LLBO requires the township approval as part of the application process.
