Nine vehicles stolen, eight damaged at Reliable Ford on weekend

FERGUS – Police are looking for clues after nine vehicles were stolen and eight vehicles were damaged here over the weekend.

Wellington County OPP officials say the incidents occurred at the Reliable Motors Ford dealership on Tower Street South in Fergus on April 25 and April 26.

“Investigation revealed that nine high-end 2020 Ford F150s, F250s and F350s pickup trucks were stolen worth an approximate value of $700,000,” police stated in an April 27 press release.

“An additional eight vehicles were damaged due to attempted thefts totalling approximately $80,000. The damage occurred when the suspect/s attempted to remove the front driver’s/passenger side door handles.”

Police say numerous licence plates were also stolen off vehicles in the parking lot.

“Surveillance footage indicates that the vehicles were last seen travelling southbound on Highway 6 away from the dealership,” police stated.

OPP officials say the suspects “have extensive knowledge of vehicle anti-theft devices and have the means to obtain numerous vehicles at one time, in one event.”
