Newcomers’ receptions planned

MINTO – The Town of Minto and local downtown revitalization committees are planning another set of pop-up newcomers’ welcome receptions in all three communities.

The events offer  new residents a chance to stop by and learn more about their new community.

In June, Minto welcomed many new residents, answered their questions, and learned a little bit about them, town officials state in a press release.

While in previous years the event has been a social gathering, the September receptions will continue to operate as come-and-go events “to allow residents who recently moved to the area to feel safe as they learn more about their community, receive their welcome bag full of goodies donated by local merchants, and grab their recycling and organics bins if they have not already done so,” the release states.

Receptions will be held:

– in Clifford on Sept.  21 at Celebration Square;

– in Harriston on Sept. 22 in Tannery Park; and

– at the entrance to Lions’ Heritage Park in Palmerston on Sept. 23.

Newcomers can stop in between 6 and 7pm and are encouraged to pre-register on Eventbrite through www.town.minto.on.ca/events.
