New public health Twitter account to help parents

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has launched its popular free Kids Line phone service on Twitter.

The @KIDSLINEOnline account allows public health nurses to engage with parents and share parenting tips, support and strategies.

The @KIDSLINEOnline Twitter feed will be staffed, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 4pm, by five nurses who will provide information about issues like pregnancy, child growth and development, parenting strategies and illness. They will also connect parents with support programs and services based on family needs.

“Twitter is another way to connect with our knowledgeable team of public health nurses,” said Dr. Nicola Mercer, CEO and Medical Officer of Health for Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.

Public Health has been operating a parenting support phone line for families for over a decade. The Twitter feed can be found at www.twitter.com/KIDSLINEOnline.
