A proposed car wash and service station in Rockwood is now one step closer to reality.

On Oct. 1, Guelph-Eramosa approved the site plan of owner Martin Drexler for a four-bay building at 165 Main Street, at the corner of Station Street.

Township planner Bernie Hermsen recommended approval of the site plan, subject to several conditions, including specific requirements for curb cuts, parking spaces, and landscaping on the property.

The one-storey, 226 square metre building will include one automatic car wash bay, two manual car wash bays, a maintenanc and repair bay, a “doggie wash” area, and an office.

There was some discussion about the inclusion of the repair bay, which is necessary for the building to conform to the current zoning bylaw for the property.

Drexler confirmed there will indeed be a repair bay in the building.

Council unanimously approved the site plan, subject to the conditions identified by Hermsen.
