More than 1,200 local residents attended Nestlé Waters biennial community open house on Sept. 21.

The event allowed community members to meet the Nestlé Waters Canada team and learn more about the bottled water industry by taking a guided tour through the plant.

Guests were asked for a voluntary toonie donation per vehicle, which was matched by Nestlé, in support of United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin.

The chapter funds 89 social programs to improve the lives of youth, adults, families and seniors living in Guelph, Wellington County and Dufferin County.

During the open house, friends and neighbours were given a chance to meet members of the Friends of Mill Creek, Puslinch Fire Department and St John’s Ambulance.

The event also included a caricature artist, Children’s “Make a Splash” Water Festival and face painting.

Additionally, everyone at the event was invited to enjoy a free barbecue and Nestlé product sampling.
