Local fans of world renowned recording artist Neil Diamond are in for a treat when international touring tribute artist Mark Thomas brings his show “Neil Diamond: The Greatest Hits Tribute” to the Harriston Town Hall Theatre on Oct. 13 at 7:30pm and the Fergus Grand Theatre on Oct. 27 at 8pm.
Thomas has performed his tribute across North America and Europe and is highly regarded for his portrayal of the singer, capturing his appearance and baritone vocal range.
The “Greatest Hits” show celebrates the American singer-songwriter, a successful artist who has sold over 115 million records and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
Diamond has eight number one hit singles: “Cracklin Rosie”, “Song Sung Blue”, “Desiree”, “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers”, “Love on the Rocks”, “America”, “Yesterday’s Songs”, and “Heartlight”.
This new touring show is produced by Bill Culp, who also produced two recent sold-out local events including “Beatlemania Revisited” and “Class of 59.”
“We’ve spent a lot of time on making this a fun, audience-interactive show. We really want people to have a memorable theatrical experience when they come to see our Neil Diamond tribute,” Culp said. “I’m especially excited we were able to get a top-calibre tribute artist like Mark Thomas involved. He’s truly a pleasure to work with and watch on-stage.”
“It’s an honour to sing these timeless classics and to pay tribute to Neil Diamond,” Thomas, who recently returned from Las Vegas, said. “I’m also quite excited to be back in Canada and to perform at intimate venues like the theatres in Harriston and Fergus. They truly give audience members a chance to hear and see these wonderful Neil Diamond songs performed up close and with excellent acoustics.”
