Mystery writing offered at U of G

Author Stacey Madden will be teaching students how to advance their skills in mystery writing on May 4 at the University of Guelph.

Students will learn about how to write a mystery, how to devise a riveting and well-paced plot, how to create suspense, how to write convincing dialogue and how to craft images that will awaken a readers’ imagination.

As a class, students will critique their own writing and discuss the importance of various genre tropes, such as red herrings, cliff hangers, twist endings and the prevalence of sex and death in mystery writing.
