KENILWORTH - Councillor Steve McCabe is impressed with the degree of cutting edge technology used by Musashi Auto Parts in Arthur.

McCabe made his comments at the Oct. 21 council session as he described a recent tour of the plant by some township council and staff.

“This is something right in our backyard ... literally. I had no idea of the level of technology within our township,” he added.

McCabe added Haru Otsuka, head of the American arm of Musashi, was a great host.

He was the keynote speaker at the Arthur chamber of commerce’s annual general meeting.

“They are already talking about the use of artificial intelligence in our township,” said McCabe. “It is not something I would normally put in the same sentence - AI and Wellington North.”

He added “it is amazing to see the investment in cutting edge technology here, and their plans for additional investment here.”

McCabe said Musashi supplies parts for a number of automotive brands.

Councillor Lisa Hern added that earlier in the day, Musashi became the first major donor to Arthur’s BMX skatepark, with a $10,000 donation.
