It looks like Wellington North Township will be replacing rather than repairing the mower used for rural road shoulder grass cutting
Recent works committee minutes noted the item was discussed during budget talks.
Those minutes stated, “Spring rural shoulder grass cutting is underway but our mower is five years old and in need of some significant repairs that could be as much as the mower is worth, and the township would still have an old mower.”
Committee members believed it would be better to replace the mower rather than spend money on repairs for the current one, which could be traded in while it still has some value. The works budget had $10,000 included in its maintenance section to either repair or trade for a new mower.
Of the three bids obtained for a new mower, the committee opted for the one by Elmira Farm Services, at $5,290 – nearly $1,500 less than the next lowest bid.
