Mount Forest athletes recognized by township council

KENILWORTH – Wellington North council hosted its third Recognition of Outstanding Achievements in Sports night on Nov. 18 in council chambers, honouring three separate individuals or organizations.

The Mount Forest Rams U15 rep hockey team, Mount Forest U12 Soccer Club, and lacrosse player Khloe Hall were recognized by council for their accomplishments during their respective sports seasons.

Mount Forest Rams U15 rep

The Mount Forest Rams U15 rep team finished the 2023-24 season with a 24-9-2 record, qualifying for the Western Ontario Athletic Association (WOAA) Lockridge Championship playoffs.

The Rams continued their stellar play, finishing the round robin portion of the playoff with a 7-0 record. In those seven games, the Rams out-scored their opponents 53-9.

In the Lockridge Championship Finals, the Rams defeated the Arran-Elderslie Ice Dogs in two straight games to win the championship.

The Rams qualified for the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) Tier 3 Championships, held in Halton Hills in April, where the Rams finished third.

Mount Forest U12 Soccer

The Mount Forest U12 Soccer Club had the season of a lifetime – an undefeated regular season and year-end tournament.

The biggest accomplishment, according to the parents of the players, was that the team defined what it means to be a good teammate: constantly supporting each other and including everyone.

 Khloe Hall

Arthur’s Khloe Hall tried out for, and successfully made, the Team Ontario U13 Girls Box Lacrosse team that competed in the 2024 U13 National Box Lacrosse Championship in Regina, Saskatchewan in August. This was the second consecutive year that Hall was a member of Team Ontario.

Hall played in all eight games for Team Ontario, including the championship game against Team British Columbia. She and her teammates won the Silver Medal, losing to B.C. 5-2 in the final.

Hall plays her club lacrosse with the Centre Wellington Riverhawks.
