The Montessori School of Elora announced that six of its students who entered short stories in the annual Polar Expressions Publishing contest have successfully made it through the first round of judging and will see their work published later this year. These students are now positioned to win one of three prizes for their grade in this cross-Canada competition.

The competition promotes literacy and is intended to inspire a lifelong love of reading and writing. Thousands of short stories and poems were received from teachers across Canada and, of these, less than half won the opportunity to be published.

The school has participated in the contest for the past seven years and its students have been successful in having their work published in each of those years. Dalma and Michael Cooper, teachers at the school, say they are extremely proud of the achievement of their students.
