The Rockwood location for the East Wellington Family Health Team (EWFHT) will be closed until Nov. 28 following the discovery of mold in the building.

During a routine carpet repair on Nov. 12, mold was found under some sections of carpet. In a press release issued by the East Wellington Family Health Team, executive director Michelle Karker said, “Our priority is the safety of both our patients and staff.”

She stated Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health has been consulted and “We are working closely with our landlord, the construction company as well as abatement experts in both the removal of the carpet and clean up of the mold.”

She said following air quality tests, experts have provided assurances “There is no negative impact on air quality.”

However, “we have decided to exceed all recommended health and safety precautions and close the clinic during this time.”

While the Rockwood site is closed, patients will be seen by their regular physician at the EWFHT Erin clinic, at 6 Thompson Cres.

Physicians will be working regular clinic hours during that time and all appointments will remain the same.

Call the Erin clinic at 519-833-9396 or consult www.ewfht.ca for more information.

The Rockwood clinic will reopen after the repairs are made and a final inspection and clearance is given. Officials hope tests will be done by Nov. 28.
