Mixed tennis highlights
Four Rockwood players battled in a close match-up Saturday in the Rockwood Tennis Club’s mixed doubles tournament final.
It took a tiebreaker for Stephanie Saull and Brian Morris to win the Fall Classic Mixed Doubles title against Mette and Ken Cornelisse.
“We had phenomenal opponents and it could’ve gone either way,” said Saull. The game was tied 1-1. 3-3, 4-4, and then 7-7 to force the tiebreaker.
Nancy and Alex Lopez won the consolation final 8-1 against Frank Rodrigues and Joanne Hayter.
“The tournament was well attended with nine teams, which is good,” said Morris, the tournament organizer.
The next title to be decided is singles, with play started on Monday.
