Monitoring of Mitchell Creek has only highlighted the need for work to be done.

Public Works Manager Gary Williamson that engineers having been monitoring Mitchell Creek near the intersection of Wellington County Road 109 and Concession 4 S.

He provided maps and photos to councillors to illustrate how close the road is the the encroaching riverbank.

The photos were to illustrate the impact of the river on the eroding riverbank.

“When we were down the first time investigating it, 50% more of the riverbank was still visible.”

The river is raised considerably, which is having an effect on the riverbank. “That is why it is imperative we address this situation.”

He said engineering is being done this year, for work next year.

However, he added there were no really heavy rains this spring, and, “you can image how devastating the damage could be.”
