Missionary earns win against Floradale

FLORADALE 0

Missionary took a surprising lead against first place Floradale. Good pressure by Curtis Bults and Paul Vandenberg resulted in a blistering slap shot by Dennis Gleeson for a short handed goal late in the first period.

The one-goal lead remained in place throughout the second period.

Floradale fought hard in the third period, out shooting Missionary 15-4 But Missionary defended the lead for the win. Grant Brubacher turned away 31 shots for the shut-out victory.

BETHEL 3
COMMUNITY 2

Bethel scored the first goal midway through the opening period. Mike Seiling and Mike Veens created a scramble at the net. A shot by Brock Shoemaker slipped the puck through the five hole for the goal.

Community tied the game before the period ended. Joe Clemmer stepped into a loose puck and drove for the net. Clemmer deked the goaltender on the short side and flipped the puck into the opposite corner.

Bethel took the lead midway through the third period. Community had trouble deep in their own end. Russ Shouldice stepped into the loose puck and flipped it into the back of the net.

Bethel added the insurance goal a minute later. Brock Shoemaker caught Kyle Martin with a pass tight in along the net. A quick tip secured the goal.

Community came back for a goal. Nick Stevens teed up Sam Bauman at the point. Bauman blasted a rising shot and Cal Martin tipped the puck into the net.

Community pulled their netminder for the extra skater in the final minute, but Bethel held onto the lead for the victory.

DRAYTON 12
LISTOWEL 3

Drayton got off to a strong start and finished with a convincing win. They scored three unanswered goals in the first and four in the second. Five more goals in the third completed the win.

Listowel responded in the third period with three goals, but the game had already been decided.

Herman Mulder led the charge for Drayton with five goals and two assists. He was followed by Pat Landman who had two goals and three assists. Eric Dekkers had one goal and four assists, while Mark Timmerman collected four assists. Scott VanOoostveen scored once and assisted on two. Dave Mulder and Robyn Curry each had one goal and one assist.

Curtis Wagler and Travis Kuepfer supplied the Listowel goals. Wagler scored twice and assisted on one. Kuepfer scored one and assisted on two. Trevor Streicher also earned a pair of assists.
