Missing girl found after brief police search

What started out as a parent’s worst fear had a very happy ending, after a little girl went missing here.

Police were called to a rural residence on Winston Churchill Boulevard in the Town of Erin on Oct. 16 shortly after 11am.

“Investigation revealed that a three-year-old girl and her two dogs wandered off into a heavily wooded area while outside with her father,” media relations officer Cheri Rockefeller said in a press release.

Wellington County OPP officers were assisted by Caledon OPP officers as well as the Wellington County Canine Unit, the West Region and Central Region Emergency Response Teams (ERT), and the OPP helicopter.

Officers located the girl shortly before 1pm, approximately one kilometre from where she was last seen, “with her two dogs by her side and in good health,” Rockefeller said.
