Minto wants ice time, park rentals exempt
Council here may consider asking for an HST exemption to help minor Sports groups.
Councillor Wayne Martin, submitted a notice of motion: “That the Town of Minto ask the provincial government to exempt all minor Sports ice time and park rentals from the proposed Harmonized Sales Tax.”
He asked that the resolution also be forwarded to its local member of parliament Perth-Wellington MPP John Wilkinson for his consideration.
Wilkinson is Ontario’s Minister of Revenue, charged with implementing the proposed HST.
Mayor David Anderson said the motion would be dealt with at Minto’s Dec. 16 meeting.
