Minto to host Indigenous Celebration this month

HARRISTON – Minto’s diversity, equity and inclusion committee is hosting an Indigenous Celebration on Sept. 27, starting at 12:45pm.

The event begins with film screenings of two Indigenous films at the Norgan Theatre (275 Main St. W., Palmerston), Cry from a Diary of a Métis Child and Bill Reid Remembers presented by the National Film Board of Canada.

Following this, guests are invited to the visit the Tipi of Huron-Perth (8837 Road 164, Gowanstown), where they can experience an authentic tipi and hear teachings and stories from Christin Dennis, Chippewa knowledge carrier and Clarence Cachagee, Indigenous community educator and visionary behind Crow Shield Lodge. 

The ticket price also includes snacks and refreshments at the Tipi. Transportation to each location is not provided.

Admission for this event is $10 and pre-registration is required by Sept. 24.

  • Launchit, 39 Elora St S, Unit 2, Harriston; and
  • The Rooster’s Perch Antiques, 30 Elora St. N., Clifford.
