Minto re-opening Harriston arena, urging residents to limit contacts

MINTO – Officials here are urging local residents to continue limiting close contacts as the Town of Minto reenters the red zone on the provinces COVID-19 protocols this week.

“Residents are still encouraged to limit close contact to your household and not allow visitors into their home,” states a press release dated Feb. 16.

Minto officials reminded the public that events and social gatherings are limited to five people indoors and 25 people outside. Stores are permitted to open for in store shopping at various capacity limits. These limits and more information regarding red zone rules can be found at covid-19.ontario.ca/zones-and-restrictions.

Minto also announced the reopening of the Harriston Arena ice surface for rental. All three community centres are open to rent as well at a capacity limit of 10 people indoors. The Norgan Theatre remains closed at this time.

The Town of Minto Municipal Office will remain closed to the public for the time being.

Officials note continuity of essential services such as fire, water, wastewater, and road maintenance will be ensured as staff work from various alternate locations.
