MINTO – June is Pride Month and although Minto’s Pride in the Park will not be taking place this year due to the ongoing pandemic, the Minto Pride Committee is looking forward to safely celebrating with other initiatives!
Where Your Pride Belongs
Some colourful decorations downtown will be set up in Minto downtowns during the month. Anyone wishing to join in and “bring Pride to your front lawn” can also join in, organizers note.
“For the first time ever, we will have yard signs available,” organizers state. Rainbow yard signs with the slogan, “Minto, Where Your Pride Belongs” can be purchased for $5, or residents can borrow a sign for the month of June for free.
Minto Pride t-shirts will also be available for $15. The shirts are a softspun gray cotton with the Minto Pride logo.
To purchase a yard sign and/ or t-shirt, drop by the lobby of the Crown Harriston on May 18 from 6 to 8 pm or May 21 from noon to 2 pm, or email the committee directly to request contactless porch drop off in the local area.

Call for stories: ‘Out and Proud in Minto’
Minto Pride strives to acknowledge and celebrate the 2SLGBTQ+ community in the Town of Minto in a time when coming together in person to celebrate Pride is not an option.
“We want to share the stories of queer identifying folks … to make sure that others know they are not alone,” organizers state.
The committee hopes to share a profile of an “Out and Proud” community member every day during the month of June. To participate get in touch via email: mintopridecommittee@gmail.com or through Facebook or Instagram.
“We’d love to work with you to tell your story of what Pride means to you,” the committee states in a press release.
“We understand that not everyone is in a place where they feel comfortable or safe publicly sharing their stories. We see you, and love you as well. You are perfect the way you are, and we are proud of you,” the group adds.
