Minto preparing to open market, museum, pools, splash pad

MINTO – A number of recreational and cultural facilities and programs will soon be opening up here.

A June 12 press release states the Town of Minto is working toward opening the local farmer’s market and the Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum as early as June 20, “if all goes well.”

In addition, the town’s splash pad, pools and day camp programs could open and begin programming as early as July 6.

The moves are in response to Wellington County’s inclusion in stage two of the province’s reopening plan, which removed restrictions on some facilities as of June 12.

The release notes limitations will be put in place to protect vendors, staff and participants.

“Staff are reviewing provincial, health unit and lifesaving society documents while working towards opening these places,” the release states.

Playgrounds will remain closed at this time in keeping with provincial emergency orders.

Parks and most parks amenities remain open and residents are reminded that the following rules remain in place:

  • gatherings of no more than 10 are allowed;
  • stay home if you feel unwell;
  • practice physical distancing; and
  • wash hands frequently.

More information on the market can be found on the Town of Minto website and at: mintofarmersmarket.ca.

The Town of Minto municipal office, as well as recreation and theatre facilities will remain closed to the public for the time being.
