Minto clerk Barb Wilson heads west

There won’t be a Conestoga Wagon, but Minto Clerk Barb Wilson is heading west – one county to be precise.

Wilson has accepted a position as Clerk for Huron County. Her last day in Minto was April 17.

Her departure echoes former Minto Chief Administrative Officer Larry Adams, who left Minto and is Huron’s CAO.

In Huron, Wilson replaces Barb Leaman, who is remaining with the county as an executive assistant to the and chief administrative officer.

Huron county councillors in turn welcomed Wilson into the fold effective April 20.

Last week,  Minto councillors passed the bylaw appointing deputy-clerk Theresa Campbell as the new clerk for Minto.

However, despite the title, the position is more akin to an acting clerk’s capacity as Minto has placed advertisement seeking applications for a clerk-administrator. That salary range is $64,400 to $85,800.

During the meeting, Wilson explained having Campbell makes it simpler to deal with various bylaws if the position simply reads as clerk.

At that meeting, council also appointed Campbell as Division Registrar and marriage licence issuer, and Peg Schieck as deputy-division registrar and deputy-marriage licence issuer.
