Minto awards tender for municipal drain improvement
MINTO – A Williams Drainage quote for the improvement of municipal drain #112, at a cost of $41,881 plus HST, has been approved by town council.
The town received five bids for the project, which includes about 434 linear metres of 300mm (12-inch) diameter plastic field tile, including appurtenances, as well as an extension to the existing drain to provide a tile outlet to lands north of 3rd Line, located outside of Palmerston, via road bore.
Williams Drainage’s bid was the lowest of the five and the company can begin the project in or before July, with an estimated end date of September, according to the report.
Drainage superintendent Ryan Binkle said bids were reviewed by the appointed engineer, Spriet Associates Architects and Consulting Engineers.
He also stated in his report that the three lowest bids were reviewed for mathematical errors or omissions, and none were found.
Binkle recommended council allow staff to move forward with the lowest tender from Williams Drainage.
The motion to receive the report for information and to award the contract to Williams Drainage for the total tender price of $41,881 plus HST, was moved by councillor Ed Podniewicz, seconded by councillor Judy Dirksen, and carried.
