Minto approves three-year extension for Wrighthaven Homes
MINTO – Council here has approved a three-year extension to a planning exemption for the completed Wrighthaven Homes townhouse development in Palmerston, giving the developer more time to complete the sale and registration of the remaining units.
Council approved the extension for the development at 182 Bridge Cres. on July 14.
The development consists of 10 stacked townhouse buildings containing a total of 20 dwelling units. According to a staff report, construction has been completed and the remaining units are in the process of being sold.
The extension applies to a part lot control exemption, a planning tool used for townhouse developments that allows individual units to be sold separately without creating separate lots through the traditional land division process.
Planning coordinator Sama Haghighi explained in a report the exemption was first approved in October 2023 and is set to expire this October. The developer requested a further 36-month extension to complete the registration process and sell the remaining units.
Council previously considered the request at its June 2 meeting, but the required bylaw was not included at that time.
The July 14 report brought the bylaw forward for council’s approval.
Town staff reported no concerns with the application, noting the registered plan complies with zoning requirements.
Council approved the extension without discussion.
