MINTO – As part of some housekeeping matters, deputy clerk Quinn Gorecki provided information to council on upcoming 2026 holiday office closures.

Since there tends to be lower activity in the municipal office between Christmas and New Year’s, she explained, the office has closed in the past to allow staff to spend time with family during the holiday season.

Gorecki explained that this year, Christmas and New Year’s Day, both statutory holidays,  fall on a Friday. Therefore, the office will close on Thursday, Dec. 24 at noon and reopen on Monday, Jan. 4 at 8:30am.

“Staff, as always, will take their paid time off allotments to cover that, so vacation or personal time or bank time ... we’re just looking for approval to do that again, like we do every year,” said Gorecki.

She added in her report that notice of the office closure will be posted at the town office, as well as on the town’s website and across social media accounts.

Public works staff will continue to plow snow as needed over the holidays, and facilities staff will manage scheduled events and bookings as required.

The request was approved by council.
