When it comes to development charges, pennies still matter.

Indexed development charges in Puslinch for 2014 amount to an increase of roughly a penny per square foot.

As Puslinch council heard on Jan. 8 that staff will implement an indexing factor increase of 0.3 per cent effective Jan. 1, 2014.

For residential development the charge increases from $3,881 per dwelling unit to $3,893. For non-residential development the shift is from $1.96/square foot to $1.97/square foot.

Development charges are an important way of funding facilities and services directly related to new development in the township.

Mayor Dennis Lever said the change amounts to roughly $12 for a residential unit and a penny per square foot for non-residential.
