Merry Makers discuss convention

President Barb Harris welcomed 14 members and one guest to the Merry Makers monthly meeting on May 4 at Jamesway Manor in Clifford.

Happy Birthday was sung to Barb Harris and Joy Burnett.

The shingles vaccine, an immunization survey and the strategies regarding vaccines will be discussed at the seniors’ convention to be held in Cobourg. The rally will be hosted by the Fordwich club on June 7 with an invitation to wear red and white for the Canadian 150 theme.

Marion Wylie read stories from The Voice.

Barb Harris read a story about restoring and refreshing your thoughts as summer nears and another one on the work of a farmer and his wife, who knows all jobs and indeed feeds the farmer.

Ethel Whitehead and her daughter Bonnie shared a number of indoor activities surrounding springtime and Mother’s Day. Before Leonard Underwood arrived with the pizza pies from Clifford Takeout, the ladies each chose a Mother’s Day flower that, once opened, revealed a butter tart from Gramma Jo’s Restaurant.

The next meeting will be held June 1.
