Meridian donates $5,000 to relief efforts in Japan

Ontario’s largest credit union, Meridian, announced March 15 it will donate $5,000 to the Ontario Credit Union Charitable Foundation’s CanHelp program for relief efforts following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. All funds will be sent to the Canadian Red Cross.

“All of us at Meridian are saddened by the loss of life and devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami,” said branch manager Karen Foster. “We are calling on our members and the communities we serve, including Fergus, to help assist in the relief efforts.”

Members interested in donating can do so at the Fergus Meridian branch located at 120 MacQueen Boulevard.

The foundation will continue to collect funds from participating credit unions until April 30, at which time the money will be forwarded to the Canadian Red Cross. Tax receipts will be issued to individual donors for any donation of $10 or more.
