Meaford woman killed in head-on crash near Conn

A passenger in one of two vehicles involved in an early morning accident near Conn has died.

Wellington County OPP responded to a call on Aug. 27 at around 9:48am after reports of a head-on collision on Wellington Road 14 just south of Highway 89.

Officers responded along with Guelph-Wellington and Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) as well as the Mount Forest Fire Department.  

Police say a northbound 2012 Mazda 3 collided head-on with a south bound 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe.

The male driver and lone occupant of the Mazda 3 was transported to Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest and later to Hamilton General Hospital by land ambulance with serious injuries.

The female driver of the Hyundai was transported to Louise Marshall Hospital by land ambulance with serious injuries.

A female passenger in the Hyundai was transported to Louise Marshall Hospital by land ambulance and later transported by air ambulance to Hamilton General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police say there was dense fog in the area at the time of this collision.

West Region OPP Collision Reconstructionists attended the scene to assist with the investigation. Wellington Road 14 was temporarily closed.

Police later identified the deceased woman as 61-year-old Virginia Wiley of Meaford.
