Mayor’s Charity Bonspiel hits the ice Nov. 7 at Arthur curling club

ARTHUR – Wellington North officials are gearing up for a day of curling, camaraderie and charity at the third annual Mayor’s Charity Bonspiel on Nov.  7 at the Arthur and Area Curling Club.

Officials say this year’s event will bring together businesses, community leaders and residents for a day of friendly competition, with proceeds donated to the Mount Forest Outdoor Pool fundraising campaign.

There will be two draws, with teams each playing two six-end games, as well as a catered lunch and awards. There will also be a silent auction.

In 2024, the event raised $8,000 for local youth causes and organizations. Organizers are hoping this year’s event exceeds that total.

People can enter a four-person team, donate a silent auction item or sponsor the bonspiel.

“We’re excited to host the third annual Mayor’s Charity Bonspiel,” stated Mayor Andy Lennox in a press release.

“Last year’s event was a great success, and we hope to build on that success in 2025 to benefit the new Mount Forest Outdoor Pool’s fundraising campaign.

“I invite everyone to get involved, whether it is by forming a team, sponsoring, or simply coming out to cheer on the curlers.”
