It appears Puslinch Mayor Dennis Lever is a bit of a celebrity ... at least when it comes to supporting local firefighters.

This year’s information package for the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs convention has used Lever’s comments to promote the OAFC Politicians Seminar: The Essentials of Firefighting and Firefighting 101, which offers municipal councillors the opportunity to understand the challenges of the fire service and its importance to their communities.

This two-day session  provides information about the fire service and includes an interactive experience where it is the politicians who slip into bunker gear for a first hand experience in a live training session.

Lever was quoted as stating, “All municipal councillors and heads of council that have fire services should take the training course. It is well worth their investment of time.”

The mayor stated that last year, after attending the sessions, he was handed a survey for quotes, “I didn’t expect it to be reproduced in their circular.”
