Mapleton to close community centres from Dec. 25 to at least Jan. 8

MAPLETON – Mapleton will be closing all township-owned community centres from Dec. 25 until at least Jan. 8.

Though not mandated by the province, the move is in response to the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health region’s move into the red (control) level of the province’s COVID-19 alert system on Dec. 14.

The PMD Arena will remain open for organized sports under strict guidelines.

“We understand that the holidays may look a little different this year, but we want you all to know we are all in this fight against COVID-19 together,” Mapleton officials stated in a Dec. 14 press release.

“Please remember to remain diligent and follow all public health measures, support our local businesses and to check in on family members virtually during this holiday season.”

The Mapleton administrative office is closed to the public, operating under appointment-only visits.

Residents can book an appointment by calling 519-638-3313.

For updates officials suggest visiting the township’s website or its social media pages.
