Mapleton Fire department calendar sales to support July 1 fireworks

The Mapleton Fire Department has taken a new approach to raising funds to offset cost of next year’s Canada Day fireworks display.

This year the department is selling 2011 cash calendars.  Not only does this new initiative help pay for the July 1 celebration, it also gives the purchaser 112 chances of winning a cash prize.

With only 1,000 tickets/calendars being sold, the odds of winning are better than 1 in 10.  All winning tickets are re-entered for the opportunity of winning more than once.

The calendar itself marks the two weekly draw dates for $50, the Fire prevention Week Daily draws of $100 and July 1 and Dec. 25 draws of $1,000.

The calendars are available at Wellington Street Cafe, Dobben’s True Value, or from  local firefighters.

Draws start on Jan. 1 so be sure to support the department while raising funds to ensure the 2011 fireworks display will be the best ever.
