Mapleton cancels Canada Day celebration

MAPLETON – The Township of Mapleton has cancelled its annual Canada Day celebration and fireworks display.

The township announced the move on April 29, stating that Mayor Gregg Davidson made the decision due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 crisis.

“This event usually draws a large crowd; for the safety of our residents and all attendees we believe cancelling is the best option,” states the press release.

“We continue to praise the community of Mapleton on their cooperation and patience during such unprecedented times.”

Township officials say the latest information can be found on the township’s website and social media accounts.
