Man charged in break-in, weapons theft

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – Police have charged a man in connection with a recent break-in, during which two handguns were stolen.

On June 13, a break-in was reported at a house on 4th Line near Rockwood. 

Wellington County OPP officials say cash, jewelry and two handguns were stolen. 

The next day, June 14, the OPP attempted to stop the driver of a suspect vehicle on Wellington Road 30 in Marden, but the driver fled.

Kevin Michael Drexler, 38, of no fixed address, was charged with break and enter and theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, flight from police, dangerous driving, failing to comply with a release order, possession of firearm contrary to a prohibition order, transferring a firearm without authority, driving with no plates, driving while suspended and driving without insurance.
