‘Make it a habit’: Save Our Water encourages locals to pick up trash

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Local group Save Our Water is asking the community to help pick up trash.

Inspired by last week’s article about Tyler Bowley, a 31-year-old Centre Wellington resident who has been picking up trash around the township since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the local group began #CleanUpCW.

“When you go for a walk, take a pair of gloves and a container and pick up what thoughtless folks have carelessly thrown away,” said Donna McCaw of Save Our Water in a letter to the editor. “Make it a habit.

“Or take an hour or two each week to clean up your neighbourhood, local parks, streets or roadways.”

McCaw encourages participants to take a picture of what they’ve found and post it on social media with the hashtag #CleanUpCW.

“Let us see what we all can gather, recycle, or get into the trash can before the snow flies to keep our community and our waterways safer and cleaner,” she wrote.
