Lourdes chooses Natyncyzk for National Leadership Award

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School has picked General Walter Natynczyk, Chief of Canada’s Defense Staff for its 2011 National Leadership Award.

The award ceremony is being held in the gym of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School on Tuesday, Jan. 18 from 12:15pm to 1:30pm.

The leadership award program began in 1991 and allows young Canadians a chance to meet, see, and hear “first hand” great leaders from all walks of life.

The program is the only one of its kind in Canada which recognizes Canadian ambassadors and powerful role models for youth today.

A press released issued by Lourdes states that they are the leaders who possess attitude, passion, commitment, faith, inspiration and vision.

General Natynczyk gas been recognized for his outstanding leadership as Canada’s number one soldier.

He has had leadership roles in Germany, Cyprus, Bosnia, Kosovo, East Timor, Eritrea, Croatia and Iraq.

He has commanded troops in rescue and aid operations during the Winnipeg floods of 1997 and the ice storms of Ottawa in 1998.

Natynczyk became Chief of Canada’s Defence Staff in 2008 and will be playing a leading role in 2011 as Canadian tropps end their combat mission in Afghanistan.

As head of the Canadian Forces, General Natynczyk continues to make a tremendous contribution to his country.
