Need a bit of help with taxes? The Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington is there to offer a helping hand.

Executive director of the Community Resource Centre Ron MacKinnon said there is assistance available to help people complete tax forms for low income families.

MacKinnon said individuals just need to call 519-843-7000 ext. 1, which is the outreach and support line that can provide needed information.

He said the resource centre has drop off sites in the following locations:

- Second Chance in Fergus;

- Ontario Works in Fergus;

- Wellington County Learning Centre in Arthur; and

- Agilec in Mount Forest.

MacKinnon noted the big thing people need to be aware of is completed and up to date records are a requirement to be eligible for various social services which are available such as OntarioWorks or Ontario Disability.

“If you are applying for them, you need to have your income tax forms completed and up to date,” he said.

MacKinnon estimated that last year, the resource centre helped return $600,000 to the community through income tax returns.
