Local recipient encourages blood donations
During Canadian Blood Services’ annual “Holiday Miracle” campaign, on now until Jan. 4, area residents are encouraged to donate blood by a local recipient whose life was saved through blood donations.
Ryan Rutherford was six years old when he was diagnosed with aplastic anemia in 2011.
Throughout his treatment, he received numerous blood transfusions.
Today, Rutherford says, “Thanks to all anonymous blood donors out there. You help save lives like mine.”
The Fergus Community Blood Donor Clinic, to take place at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex (550 Belsyde Avenue in Fergus), will be Dec. 17 from 2 to 8pm.

“Adopt a Recipient” and as a group make the number of donations that one anonymous person will need.
For example, it can take eight donations a week to treat one person with leukemia, so rally eight friends and/or colleagues to make a group donation.
