Local foster girls write puppet play

EDEN MILLS – A short puppet play called The House of Hormones was written by and about teenage foster girls and their caregiver.

The play will take place on Feb. 24 at the Eden Mills Community Hall from 2 to  2:30pm. The performance will be followed by a group discussion and refreshments.

The puppet play was  created by local foster girls in collaboration with playwright and director Dale Hamilton, as well as professional puppet-makers Anne Barber and Brad Harley of Shadowland Theatre and professional musician Katherine Wheatley.

Admission is by donation and all proceeds will go to the youth participants.

Organizers did put out a warning that the show is not suitable for children under 13 and that the subject matter may trigger traumatic memories.

A professional counsellor will be available during and after the performance.
