ELMIRA – Elmira Pet Products has made financial donations to COVID-19 projects in the communities where most of its 220 employees live.

Dave Johnston, one of the owners, said the company has a history of giving and this year it directed money towards COVID-19 relief efforts.

“The company has done well and we like giving back,” Johnston said in a phone interview. “Given the times, we decided to give to the communities where our employees reside.”

The company is owned by Dave and Lecia Johnston, Bryan and Sharron Cook, and Paul and Laura Feick.

The company has  donated a total $30,000 – $5,000 each to: the Groves Hospital Foundation, Palmerston and District Hospital, Listowel Memorial Hospital, Guelph General Hospital, and Grand River Hospital.

The donation will allow Groves hospital to purchase equipment like patient beds, IV and infusion pumps, communication devices for staff, and iPads for patients to allow for virtual visits, said the foundation’s executive director.

“Their generosity and unwavering support for our hospital during this unprecedented time is truly heartwarming and so appreciated by all of us at Groves Hospital & Foundation.
