Lever: 2011 GRCA levy- too high for assessment

Puslinch Mayor Dennis Lever has questioned the township’s 2011 GRCA levy and has requested more information on the matter.

“I believe we’re being over-assessed for our amount,” Lever said on Feb. 2.

He told council the explanation of the levy from the Ministry of Natural Resources, which calculates the levies for the Grand River Conservation Authority, does not line up with actual township assessment figures.

This year’s proposed levy for Puslinch is $106,277 – up almost 4% from the 2010 cost of $102,294.

“It’s a significant amount,” councillor Wayne Stokley stated, adding he is glad the township is looking into the calculations.

Clerk Brenda Law said she would contact Keith Murch, the GRCA’s assistant chief administrative officer, and inquire about Lever’s concerns.
