The Fergus Legion Branch 275 is dealing with a lot of ribbon these days.

The branch members are hoping to cover Centre Wellington Township in ribbons to welcome home Canadian troops serving in Afghanistan.

Legion Branch President Brian Bielby said last week that yellow ribbons are ordered and volunteers will be assembling them for release. Canada’s troops in Afghanistan are scheduled to start returning home in July, so the campaign will run the entire month.

Bielby said he hopes businesses in the downtowns of Fergus and Elora will display the ribbons and that people across the township will place them at their homes.

The ribbons will sell for a nominal cost. There will be more details in late June.
