Learning disabilities association to host information open house

The Learning Disabilities Association of Wellington County will host an evening presentation by Barbara Post.

Post will talk about  nonverbal learning disabilities, which are characterized by impaired visual-spacial, motor and social skills. Post’s goal is to raise awareness of NLD, as well as develop appropriate accommodations and strategies.

The presentation will be held on Nov. 12 from 7 to 9pm at the Community Living Board Room, 8 Royal Road and cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. A fee subsidy is available upon request

 Post is a former itinerant nonverbal learning disabilities teacher with the Waterloo Region District School Board. She taught for over 30 years with the last seven years in the learning disabilities area of special education.

The Learning Disabilities Association of Wellington County is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth and adults with learning disabilities so that they can reach their full potential.

Through outreach, education, advising and advocacy, the association’s mandate is to advance the education, employment, social development, legal rights and general well-being of individuals with learning disabilities.
