Kitchener man charged with careless driving in August crash

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – A Kitchener man has been charged with careless driving in connection with a serious two-vehicle crash here last summer.

Wellington County OPP officials say one person was sent to hospital with “life-altering” injuries following a collision between a car and motorcycle on Highway 7 at the Woolwich-Guelph Townline on Aug. 7 at about 6:30pm.

“Initial reports indicated that a motorcycle and a sedan had collided and that the rider of the motorcycle was seriously injured,” police stated in a press release at the time.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 61-year-old from Guelph, was transported to a trauma centre with life-altering injuries, while the driver of the sedan and two passengers were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Jan. 13 the OPP announced Abraham Matwos, 34, of Kitchener, was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm.

He is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
