‘Kinky Boots’ comes to Guelph

GUELPH – Rehearsals are underway for Royal City Musical Production’s spring production of Kinky Boots.

Based on the 2005 British film Kinky Boots, written by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth and mostly inspired by true events, the musical tells the story of Charlie Price.

Having inherited a shoe factory from his father, Charlie forms an unlikely partnership with cabaret performer and drag queen Lola to produce a line of high-heeled boots and save the business. In the process, Charlie and Lola discover that they are not so different after all.

Royal City Musical Productions Inc. was founded through the efforts of a local group that recognized the need for a musical theatre company in this area. Objectives of the company are to provide entertainment to the community through the presentation of Broadway style musicals.

Kinky Boots will be on stage at the River Run Centre April 25 to 28. Tickets can be purchased by going to the River Run Centre web site at riverrun.ca.
