Kindergarten registration open at local school boards
GUELPH – Parents can now register their children to start kindergarten in September.
Children born in 2022 can attend junior kindergarten in September, and children born in 2021 can attend senior kindergarten.
Both junior and senior kindergarten are full days, five days a week.
Children already enrolled in junior kindergarten do not need to apply for senior kindergarten.
At the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB), registration for French immersion closes at 4pm on Jan. 30, while registration for English kindergarten remains open.
Junior kindergarten is the only entry point for French Immersion at the UGDSB.
For the Wellington Catholic District School Board (WCDSB), a Baptismal certificate (for parent or child) is required for registration.
The WCDSB also requires property owners to provide proof that they direct the education portion of their property taxes to the Catholic board.
Both boards require the following documentation for registration:
– proof of age (birth certificate for WCDSB; birth certificate, birth registration form, passport, Canadian citizenship or permanent resident card for UGDSB);
– proof of address; and
– custody papers if applicable;
Both boards require parents to submit immunization records through Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health, and the WCDSB requires immunization records to be submitted to the school as well.
For both boards, registration begins with an online application but must be completed in person at the child’s school.
